Braised Carrot and Burdock Root -Kinpira Gobo-

Kinpira Gobo is traditional Japanese side food containing braised carrot & burdock with soy sauce. Burdock root (Gobo) contains sufficient dietary fiber, which would improve your digestion system. Kinpira gobo can be stored in a fridge for several days and put in your lunch box (Bento).

Storage

In room-temperature: 1-2days

In a fridge: 3-5days

In a Freezer: 1month (Natural defrost is better, but you can use a microwave when you are in a hurry)

Ingredients

Directions

  • Cut burdock in thin slices. Soak slices into water.
  • Cut carrot and konnyaku into thin strips.
  • Heat sesami oil in a pan, and saute burdock, carrot and konnyaku till their color changed.
  • Add mirin, sake, soy sauce and sugar and mix.
  • Add sesami seeds and chilli and stir-fry.

  • You can use peeler, if it is diffcult to cut gobo with this way.
